![]() I disagree - though such topics always boil down to personal variables. His drop of a nearly useless supply item isn't worth the risk. You could easily never fight the Fanatic at all, and he's not worth fighting unless you want to play a high infection strategy where most/all of your roster is infected, and you don't want to be surprised by him so you kill him to get rid of surprise encounters. He's still actually worth fighting sometimes solely for the drops, even if you should be selective about choosing to fight him. He's not really something you should look forward to in a battle, but rather something to fear. The Shambler is second toughest, but at least until you get the five Ancestral Trinkets he drops, the drops are great, and he can be cheesed with riposting teams and in general reliably beaten even on Champion at least if you start out with a good Shambler killing team in good shape. He has a miserable drop, the only plus you get out of killing him is not having to see him again for a while, and he can't be cheesed in any obvious way. Originally posted by Skinny Pete:The Fanatic, no question about it. (Well, for the Collector, that's a given since you can't 'prepare' for him, but I've been ambushed in the dark by a Shambler once or twice, and been surprised by the Thing on occasion just because I failed to pay attention to where he was patrolling this week.) But against the Fanatic, with anything less than a purpose-built anti-Fanatic team, my best result so far is one survivor, at Death's Door. I've won against all of the other three, casualty-free, with general-run parties. Meanwhile, he spends half his time in the back row and half his time in the front, necessitating flexible damage-dealing on your part, and often buffs his PROT dangerously high, making it hard to finish him off quickly. Which, for anyone with the Crimson Curse (and of course, if you're encountering him at all, that's probably most of your team) is pretty quick and efficient indeed! and unlike all the other Wandering Bosses, he does NOT mess around with Stress Damage, he's just outright trying to kill you as quickly and efficiently as possible. Always surprises you, 3 actions per round, leaves you constantly shorthanded by burning one of your crew at the stake. thought I'd ask around to see which one is most widely hated!įor me, it still has to be the Fanatic. Well, with CoM added, there's now 4 different Bosses who can randomly show up to ruin your run. ![]()
